Yes, it`s a great solution when you don`t have access to soap and water. Of course it is better to thoroughly wash your hands though.

It`s alcohol, it dries out the bacteria on your hand, killing them. So yes I believe it works at keeping you healthy.

As a health care provider we had hand washing training. Hand sanitizer should never be used to replace soap and water. Use it when you don`t have access to soap and water but make sure to wash your hands vigorously for at least 30 seconds as soon as you can. I once dated a guy who didn`t wash his hands because he used sanitizer instead. Gross

I only use it if I`ve been handling rodents and I`m about to feed my snakes. I don`t like getting bit because of a scent that`s lingering on me.

Most alcohol based sanitisers state on the tube that they`re most effective when used after washing your hands with soap and water. They`re much better than nothing if you don`t have immediate access to soap and water but the combination is best.
